MultiPolar Leads Groundbreaking SDG Evaluation in Ecuador
MultiPolar experts, led by founding partner Claudia Aguilar Garza, are heading one of the world’s first country-led evaluations of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in collaboration with the German Institute for Development Evaluation (DEval) and Ecuador’s National Secretariat of Planning (SNP). Focused on efforts to reduce chronic child malnutrition, the evaluation integrates the core principles of the 2030 Agenda — Leaving No One Behind, shared responsibility, and policy coherence — into every stage of the process. This pioneering work positions MultiPolar at the forefront of principle-based SDG evaluation, driving new ways for governments and partners to strengthen accountability and learning through evidence-based approaches. Conducted together with DEval, SNP, and local stakeholders, the Ecuador experience directly contributes to implementing the UN General Assembly resolution on country-led evaluations and is helping establish new global standards for inclusive and transformative SDG assessments.
